Walking slowly, on purpose

A Note from the Clinic

It has been a long winter. A long, cold, wet spring. And if you have been feeling the heaviness of it — in your body, your energy, your mood — you are not imagining things. I have been hearing it in the clinic all season. The Spring energy of growth and expansion, which usually arrives with a certain urgency, has felt slow to rise this year. Like waking from a deep dream — a little groggy at first, but with clarity beginning to lift, like the sun coming through morning cloud. I have felt it myself, and I have stopped fighting it.Not rushing this year feels important. In a Fire Horse year, stability and focus matter more than speed.I am also reaching back into your inbox after a quiet stretch — and it felt right to do it now, as we move from the slow thaw of Spring into the Fire energy of Summer. A moment of transition. A good time to reconnect.

What I’m seeing in the clinic
Two things are showing up consistently right now. The first is fatigue— a deep tiredness that rest alone does not seem to touch. This is not ordinary tiredness. It is a depletion that asks for something more nourishing: heart-centered rest, emotional tending, and a gentler pace than most of us allow ourselves. The second is physical stiffness and pain — the kind that arrives when a long, contracted winter meets the sudden enthusiasm of Spring. Gardening that the body wasn’t ready for. Low back tension. Heavy, tight legs. The body rushing forward before it has fully woken up.Both of these speak to the same thing: the need to listen before we leap. Your body has been sending signals all season. Summer, with its Fire energy, will ask even more of you — more openness, more presence, more heart. Now is the time to prepare from the inside out.

A reminder about energy healing
Many of you come to me for acupuncture — and I love that work deeply. But I want to gently reintroduce something that brings me equal joy and that I believe many of you would benefit from right now: Energy Healing.Medical Qi Gong and Reiki work in a different register than needles. They invite the nervous system into deep rest. They help clear blockages — physical, emotional, energetic — that accumulate quietly over time. They create a kind of space where the body remembers how to heal itself. Sound, movement, stillness, and intuitive awareness all play a role.If you have never tried an energy healing session, or if it has been a while, I would love to talk with you about it. It is quiet, restorative work — and after a winter like this one, quiet and restorative is exactly what many of us need.

As always, I am here — and I am glad to be back in your inbox. If anything in this note resonates, please reach out. Book a session, reply to this email, or simply pass this along to someone who might need a little support right now. With warmth, and wishing you a gentle turn into Summer.
